Minimum wage

The Fair Work Commission, Australia’s national workplace tribunal annually announces minimum wageadjustments. The national minimum wage usually changes on 1st July each year, with effect from 1 July 2025, the NMW for permanent adult is AUD24.95 per hour, AUD948 per week and applicable minimum rates under modern awards will increase by 3.5%.

Each classification level has a different minimum pay rate.

Casual employees entitled to the national minimum wage must receive at least $31.19 per hour, which includes the 25% casual loading rate.

Frequency

Monthly is the most common, however, employees may also be paid weekly or fortnightly.

Payday

Usually, the 15th of each month if monthly, but other days are used as well.
